Der Freitag ist in Le Mans traditionell der Tag an dem die Rennmotoren eingebaut werden, nachdem die Qualifikation und der Testtag schon mit 1-2000km auf dem Motor zu Buche schlagen. Daher gibt es keine Rennaction und der Tag gehört traditionell den Mechanikern und den Fans.
Bei Spyker ist man mit dem Verlauf der Qualifikation soweit
zufrieden. Die Wagen fahren seit diesem Jahr mit einem Motor mit
geänderter Zündreihenfolge (Flatpane statt Crosspane) die
zwar einen weniger kernigen Sound aber dafür mehr Top-Leistung
und weniger Vibrationen verspricht. Zudem hat man den Antrieb der
Nockenwelle vom anfälligen Keilriemen auf ein Zahnradgetriebe
verlegt um die Motorschäden der Vergangenheit zu umgehen. So
ausgerüstet hofft man nun endlich auf eine Zielankunft der Wagen
die es bislang nur einmal zu vermelden galt. Peter Dumbreck hat
in der letzten Session die 4:03,641 -Bestzeit gefahren. Am anderen
Wagen von Ben Leuenberger & Co hatte man sich lange auf die
Erarbeitung eines gutmütigen Setups konzentriert das nun laut Team
perfekt passen soll (oder sagen wir mal meistens - siehe Bild) .
